A beloved aspect of MSA is the optional afternoon activities, where scholars can pick from a wide selection of fun ways to spend their afternoon. One of these activities on June 15th was LEGO Serious Play with Doc Holliday. Scholars were split up into 5 teams of 5 scholars each and tasked with building LEGO representations of MSA using the provided pieces. Every team built a great little representation of one aspect of MSA.

1. Shrine to Ake

This is a recreation of that morning’s Taiso, with Ake on the steps of Jesse hall and all the scholars down below following along with this fun activity. Steve Keller’s golf cart is also represented to the right, with Keller as the ghost because he is seemingly omnipresent. The shark on the surfboard is on top of Jesse hall because sharks riding surfboards are very cool, just like MSA.

2. Plane smashing through challenges

This build depicts MSA as a plane letting us smash through challenges. All the scholars are riding on the plane. The person driving is an RA, but they are not actually able to control the plane. The man with 8 heads represents Ani, he has so many heads because he is very smart. The plane is very colorful, but the obstacle is completely black. The dancing skeleton with a tophat at the back of the plane is there because it is very cool, just like MSA.

3. MSA Tower

In this build MSA is represented as a tower. Climbing the tower gets you into MSA. The climb is difficult, but the top is great. The kids who play contact sports are fed to the shark at the bottom. Frozone is there because Frozone is very cool, just like MSA.

4. Grass and water

In this build MSA is a floating structure in the water. The grass is ordinary society. You have to swim through the water to reach MSA. The people on the grass have vines connecting them to represent uniformity and a lack of uniqueness or independence. At MSA the scholars are able to do the things they love and have fun. The shark is eating a scholar who violated LLAMA. The speedboat represents week 4.

5. Climb to MSA

This build represents the variety of ways that scholars get to MSA. Scholars from the suburbs use the ladder. Scholars from urban areas use the rock wall. Scholars from rural areas use the vines. Everyone is from a different place and makes it to MSA their own way. The rock wall is very colorful because every scholar adds their own personal touch.
