Ericca Thornhill teaches the pseudoscience class here at Missouri Scholars Academy. She has returned to MSA after a hiatus, but she has been teaching since 1997. The types of pseudosciences that Ericca teaches are astrology, chronology, and sometimes conspiracy theories. She loves science and has a very strong passion. Ericca explains that she is upset with how kids today are becoming less and less scientifically literate. She would go on to explain that she made a prediction many years ago about the minds of today becoming less and less scientifically literate and is very upset seeing that become reality saying “I have heard from the science teaching community that us science teachers aren't doing a good job at teaching what science actually is, and as a result, our American population is going to become less science literate and thus make bad science decisions. It has been unsettling to watch this prediction come true”.

When asked, Ericca said she wouldn’t do anything differently and has enjoyed her time at the Scholars Academy. She hopes to teach her kids how to use science and not misuse it. An anonymous student said that he really appreciates Ericca’s passion for pseudoscience “I think knowing how to not follow pseudoscience and knowing the difference is very important for young people” .
